Coed Llandegla

Coed Llandegla covers a massive 650 hectares and has a good selection of fast and flowing trails, from a mellow green route right up to a challenging black, plus a skills and freeride area. There are also a number of optional loops, such as ‘Parallel Universe’ and ‘B Line’, which are steeper and more-downhill orientated, and should keep more experienced riders happy.

THE TRAILS:

SKILLS AREA (600M, PURPLE)

FREERIDE AREA (650M, ORANGE)

GREEN TRAIL (5KM, GREEN)

This trail was designed with families in mind, and ascends gradually from the car park to a high point with views of the Clwydian Range.

BLUE TRAIL (12KM, BLUE)

The blue shares its long climb with the red route but splits off at the top of the forest to take in gradual downhills interspersed with climbs to give new riders a taste of what mountain biking’s all about.

RED TRAIL (18KM, RED)

The red trail descends on singletrack through more remote sections of the forest. There are big berms, switchbacks, water crossings and sections of boardwalk, but nothing too technically demanding.

BLACK TRAIL (21KM, BLACK)

The black trail mostly follows the red but branches off to take in more challenging features, including unavoidable obstacles such as large steps and drop-offs. On the whole, though, it’s fast, smooth and swoopy, and not overly technical.
