Cwmcarn

Half an hour from the Severn Bridge, Cwmcarn is easily accessible from the M4 and one of the best trail centres in South Wales. There are two red XC trails to choose from, and the Cwmdown uplift service gives access to the Y Mynydd DH track. There are plans afoot to extend the Twrch trail too, and potentially reopen the old Dragon DH track as well. Watch this space...

THE TRAILS:

TWRCH (15.5KM, RED)

A classic red route with a steep, techy climb at the start, the Twrch takes you through woodland up to an open ridgeline. There’s plenty of tight singletrack to keep you on your toes and the fun final descent rewards your hard work.

CAFALL (15KM, RED)

An MBUK favourite, the Cafall trail begins with a long but interesting climb packed with switchbacks and ends with a series of riotous descents that have plenty of trail features to keep you smiling.

Y MYNYDD (1.9KM, ORANGE)

Cwmcarn’s original DH track splits in two in places, giving the choice of an easier 1.7km trail with features that are all rollable if you’re careful and a harder 1.9km run that’s slightly steeper and aimed at more experienced riders.

PEDALHOUNDS (1.4KM, ORANGE)

On the opposite side of the hill to Y Mynydd, the newer Pedalhounds DH track begins with a handmade rooty section but soon picks up speed. There are drops, tech lines and a steep jump section to finish. It can be joined from the Cafall trail and is ridable on a trail/enduro bike.
