Afan Forest Park

Afan boasts over 130km of well-maintained trails, with everything from flowing singletrack to rock gardens. It’s more suited to experienced riders but there are a couple of short, easy trails too. There are two centres at Afan, giving you a choice of trailheads to begin at. Glyncorrwg is the main one and is the start point for White’s Level and Blade. The Afan Visitor Centre is home to Blue Scar, Penhydd and The Wall. W2 can be ridden from either centre. There’s a bike park situated part way round The Wall, which can also be accessed by car.

THE TRAILS:

ROOKIE (5.5KM, GREEN) (2.2KM BLUE EXTENSION)

PENHYDD (14KM, RED)

BIKE PARK (ORANGE)

BLUE SCAR (7KM, BLUE)

This trail is designed for riders progressing from green to blue trails. There are a few technical sections to test your skills and a fun descent to the finish.

THE WALL (24KM, RED)

Afan’s most famous trail traverses the north side of the valley. Fireroad climbs are interspersed with singletrack that varies from tight and techy to fast and flowy. The final descent is one of our favourites.

BLADE (24KM, RED)

The replacement for the old Skyline trail, Blade uses the White’s Level climb to access high parts of the forest before dropping back over the hill for a mega descent that’s full of rocky features.

WHITE’S LEVEL (17KM, RED)

This trail is 90 per cent purpose-built singletrack and begins with a 6km climb to some great views over the Afan Valley. The descents have quite a bit of exposure in places, along with plenty of berms and rocky steps.

W2 (44KM, BLACK)

A massive trail and one to make sure you’re well prepared for before starting out. This route combines The Wall and White’s Level with a high and exposed linking section above the trees.
