Newcastleton

With the trailhead situated at the square in the centre of the village, Newcastleton is a great place to head to for a day out. None of the trails are overly difficult, but they have a real ‘out in the wilds’ feel.

THE TRAILS:

LINNS ROUTE (8KM, GREEN)

Entirely on forest roads, but there are plenty of hills and some great scenery to enjoy.

BLUE ROUTE (9.7KM, BLUE)

This mellow trail begins with a quick descent between the trees. It’s not that technical but still shedloads of fun, with berms, wooden boardwalks, optional rock steps and some sweet singletrack.

RED ROUTE (23.7KM, RED)

The ‘advanced’ route is only 50 per cent singletrack with a lot of fireroad and is easier than other 7Stanes reds, but it still has some fun sections with berms, jumps and drop-offs, along with a great flowy final descent.

SKILLS PARK (PURPLE)

Three short trails focus on different aspects of riding, with drop-off, flow and technical options. There’s also a dual slalom and pump track. A perfect warm-up before hitting the blue and red trails.
